Yes, in fact that drop was really bad luck. The routine was really good, with small imperfections, but still a 28.950 I believe is too much.

I think all the scores are a bit too high. Congratulations to Merkulova and Mamun. I am happy to see that Mamun is getting more chances to compete in GPs. Sorry about Russian Group. I am sure Viner is not happy...

The Russian group was performing very well at the beginning, but they messed up before the throw of the 5 apparatuses during the walkover, and also the throw was wrong (I think a ribbon was dropped). And then other mistakes followed... It's a pity they can't keep themselves concentrated, they are so great gymnasts! Sad

I can't believe all these scores....Is it possible 8 gymnasts up to 28.000 p.
and other gymnasts who in other competitions their scores are between 25.700-26.500 now to to take 27.400 plus....???
This is bad -disaster for our sport....I am very sorry Sad

Very inflated scores... I wish the scores could be like they were in 2001-2004, where a 26.75 could get you a bronze medal. Of course, I didn't even know about RG then. Wink

It's the end of the cycle, of course scores are high. New COP coming soon so scores will be low again. So low it will be hard to get used to at first.

Like Mie, when Kondakova was "WHOA!!!" when she saw her mark at some final - it was like 28.500. And Miteva got a bronze with 26.850 in ribbon...

I can't imagine what Trofimova's scores would have been like if she competed... Rolling Eyes

What I saw happened on screen 45 min just before their competition:

Rus group was non stop 15min practising, then 1st time whole routine rehearsal, with minor mistake; there was loud side voice(guessed was their coach); 2nd time whole routine rehearsal, another minor mistake; immediately 3rd time whole routine rehearsal again, the gymnasts just too exhausted that they all heavily sat down on carpet for rest after the routines. The Hall bell rang. Then after some 20min, they performed on carpet with disaster of mistakes. But no audience knows their 1st time rehearsal was almost perfect!

Can't imagine a trainer will instruct a 100m runner to run 400m as warmup just 20min before start. Confused

p.s. yesterday training section, the 3+2 routines , quite similar story, within some 30 min, they rework whole routines 3 times until no mistakes, of course accompanied with Viner's sound effect.

No doubt that Rus has great calibra of gymnasts. They could only lose to themselves. Their coaches just being too crazy & endlessly to drive their gymnasts too exhausted to running opposite from the sun to chase a virtual shadow enemy. One conclusion, no faith on gymnasts, no success.

+1! It's normal they make mistakes if they are so stressed! Confused And when they make mistakes, Viner becomes angry with them, like they mistaked intentionally! Confused They are human, not robots!
