What is your take on the hoop hanging around the trunk in pivots? Is it Mastery? If the hoop is on a leg it may definitely do rotations. Around the trunk sometimes it cannot because the leg stops the rotation. Is it unstable? But it cannot fall off, because the leg also stops such action... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUI32fwNg9E
0:58 this is unstable on neck. What about 1:47? Is it Mastery? |

I write them both as handling without hands.....but my gymnasts always try not to put the hoop or take the hoop with their hands ...everytime with an action...
I never put rotations of the hoop during a pivot with a ring....only in attitude or passe.....but the judges told us that from this year we cannot do that ....it is forbitten to write rotations during a pivot. |

page 75:
"Rotation around the hand"
it is called rotation and not rotations:
so do we need one or three rotations to get credit? or 5 or 6....nothing is explained clearly
Sometimes I think, we need much of humour to work with the current cop |

I'm sure I read somewhere that the 3 rotations is no longer necessary. I would think the only benefit in doing 3 would be that you could then claim the series bonus. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/Tahnee2612 |

may be, but the serie symbol isn't destinated for rotation around the hand |

As I understood, during rotations, wherever the appratus is, it is unstable balance, even if it is simply hanging and doing nothing.

You need only ONE rotation to get a credit. The series symbol is not there because...well, it is just not there. the TC found it totally not interesting to give a special credit for 3 rotations (which I agree with) because now, for instance, we have a situation with ball when bounces cost much more then rolls while rolls is the most typical work with ball and not bounced. Same could be for hoop if they included series symbols. _________________ Ridentem dicere verum quid vetat

Sorry, I was thinking more in terms of rotations around other body parts, which I think should be included for series, but definitely not for the hand, no. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/Tahnee2612 |

It is correct that the basic element no longer mentions that a series is required. However, I have heard that several judges courses have mentioned that a series IS required when the rotation is performed with the hand - while without hands, one rotation is enough. This is not mentioned in the errata. We should probably expect newsletters. |

Question: When a gymnast does a boomerang roll of the hoop on the floor and then throws it by kicking it into the air as it rolls back to her, does that count as a "Push-Back"? Or is a Push-Back only for rolls on the body? _________________ *Elegance is an attitude.* |
