I'm from the US-so RG gets almost no attention-save the Oympics, when it is often regulated to about 1/2 an hour on TV Rolling Eyes

Nevertheless, I became a fan of RG since I was 7 and watched the Barcelona games. I don't remember any of the gymnasts personally-but I do remember being amazed at the shapes they made with their apparatus. I even did some "routines" in the living room. LOL

Besides the Olympics though, I hadn't really follow RG. Thanks to the internet I was able to watch videos and I started to enjoy RG more. My favorite sport actually is Figure Skating, but I'm glad to get the chance to learn more about RG through messageboards.

I grew up around gymnastics, matter of time before this one was uncovered, my sister started it...and one day I was home sick and I flipped channels and saw Utyasheva in the qualifying rounds at the 2001 WC....Tennis is my real favorite sport

I first began following RG back in 84 at the trails for the LA Olympics. All the various gymnasts were giving demonstrations and next to Mary Lou Retton the Rhythmic Gymnast Diane Simpson was considerably more interesting and elegant. Her blue hoop routine was one of the most beautiful things
I'd ever seen.

My mum took me to her friend's gym, where they did Rhythmics. Initially I didn't like it very much.... Too much pain and work! But I was only a child and growing up I learned to appreciate my sport. In 99 I had Internet connection and I started searching news and watching videos and photos, and a girl named Alina Kabaeva took my attention. Since that time I love RSG morte than my life, and I will be very very sorry to retire... Confused

I used to do RG, but my club stopped doing rhythmics and my mom refused to drive an hour to Los Angeles or Huntington Beach so I could train. This drove my coach crazy because she said that I was undeniably gifted......so a dream flushed down the drain!

If Mary makes Semis at the Olympics, or even finals, maybe we in the USA will get more RG coverage!

I was drawn to RG in 1996 when I watched Yana B. I fell in love with the sport when I saw Alina K. in 2000.

I saw an Olympic preview of RG in 1988 and got interested, however our country only caters to WAG at that time. It was in 1991 when I saw my first live RSG competition.

The most memorable routine I saw Bianka Panova's 1989 Hoop routine (Moonlight Sonata) (in 1989) and fell in love with the sport.

I used to do RG (I trained with Bianka Panova).
In '96 I watched the Olympics and since then I began to follow the international competition. Now it's much more difficult because there's no eurosport anymore and on the other channels they don't really show RG.

They stopped Eurosport some few weeks before olympics 2000. Eurosport said that everybody had to pay more and Belgium did not agree. Antwerp and Brusssels can again see Eurosport, i don't know about the other cities/provincies. But Sjoen, i've heard that West-Vlaanderen also have Eurosport? I know somebody over there.
