We are always discussing whether or not gymnasts do elements correctly. So I thought it might be a good idea to collect photos of elements we think are perfectly executed. Of course, you can also post your comments with arguments on why a certain photo does or does not belong in this thread.

I'll start with this one. You rarely see this flexibility being performed how it should be, which is like this;

This is IMO a perfect stag with head to thigh:

And another perfect leap from the same girl:

Kaja, can you please put only small pictures in the topics? This is to not use all the bandwith. I have changed all your pictures to links. Janita

Nice topic to open, Kaja...really! But I don't understand why you said that there is an execution in the photos you have posted. I really don't understand. Please, could you explain to me? Embarassed Embarassed

I agree with you. Sadly, that was the closest I could find to good shape with high releve, in the time I was looking.

I think her front leg could be a little bit higher for the position to be perfect, but it is still one of the best I have seen! Also, her leg was probably perfectly split before or after the photo was taken.

Uh wait a minute...execution means an element or a movement similar to penalties such a gymnast's messy pivot

Or execution means a movement which is like an exceptional movement which looks interesting and hard? I am confused. Confused Confused Confused Confused Question Question Question

first photo: ring should be closed - in the photo the degree is more than 90 degrees. And as you can see, in this moment there is no split - probably the gymnast at first shows stag (bent front leg) and later ring and back bend. there is no single picture of 3 criteria: stag-back bend-ring.

second photo: again the ring is too open. possibly, it's just a split leap with back bend, then the back leg should be straight.

execution: is in code of points, for what judges deduct points

but perfect execution or good executed means she is performing an element perfectly.

I'd say that every element is executed (performed) in one way or another. The execution judges deduct points for bad execution (i.e. leap with low height). The execution judges do not award points for good execution (i.e. leap with good elevation, good amplitude, good extension, etc).

Sery, where is it written that a stag position should have 180 degrees split? Even the FIG brochure of leaps mentions only two criteria with regard to the shape: The hind leg should be horizontal (tolerance: 20 degrees), and the front leg should be maximally bent (tolerance: leg bent more than 90 degrees).

Marie, my answer is about "perfect" execution of the leap.

As you wrote, there are two TOLERANCES;
20 degrees of amplitude and front leg.
They are tolerances, and of course gymnasts should show at least 180 degrees of split as enjambee.
