There is a small interview with Alina Kabaeva. Could someone translate?

Thanks.

Thanks Belosnegka for the link, but is not the same video. I was just curious as to what Alina said in the video.

on Russian.
Even if she will disqualify, this event will not break us(Russians). To break Russians it's impossible. All who was "delighted" to this situation can be assured of it. Mr. Green

it reminds me on prehistoric USSR declarations really...when Soviets were always persuaded to believe that they are the strongest nation while not having bread in the markets...

as to the video, I find it funny that journalists are totally unaware of the situation. For example, they say that Andre Gueisbuhler (FIG General Secretary) is an Italian. While he is Suisse and he works for FIG and has nothing to do with Italian wishes for the Olympic Games. Then they totally mix the procedure what is now being done for Irina Viner. The Disciplinary Commission should indeed make a decision within some days after the hearing but nobody will find it out because the real decision is the one made by the Presidential Commission. Only after it's decision (if there will be any and if it will be written that it should be published) we will know something.

I don't find it funny, but I can't blame them either. I don't think many people who pay attention to the world of RG everyday are aware of those facts.

I don't think it's so hard for a journalist working on a case to check the nationality of one of the main persons in the case. Especially when that mistake makes one of the main arguments in the story lose all credibility.

I was speaking about the political statements and the FIG procedures, tbh. I personally wouldn't mind a lot had it been an unintentional slip-up to say that he's from Italy.

I think that the problem is precisely that not many people lost their ability to believe in what those journalists had to say. It's pretty sad, actually.

http://vesti.irk.ru/index.php?article=2008.06.19.18.14
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The president of the international federation of gymnastics (FIG) Bruno Grandi has arrived to have a rest on Baikal lake in Siberia, Russia.

And in general he has arrived in Siberian region to visit Leninsk-Kuznetsk,
the Kemerovo in which regional Olympic center Russian gymnasts will
pass the final stage of their preparation to Peking Olympics-2008.

He was satisfied from the training conditions in the Center.

Bruno Grandi was a member of a combined team of Italy on sports gymnastics in the 50s-60s.
After finishing his sports career he became the professor in university of Rome.
He was repeatedly selected vice-president of Olympic committee of Italy.
In 1996 has replaced Jury Titov on a post of the president of the International federation of gymnastics (FIG).

"I wanted to visit Baikal for a long time, however because of the rigid schedule of work I could arrive only this year,
and only for a short time:
- I am very happy to be here. Very long time ago I dreamed to arrive to Siberia.
But I never assumed, that I will see such beauty, the nature is simply magnificent,
and still I was amazed by the warm hospitality."

Also journalists have not disregarded a question that FIG threatens the main trainer of Russia Irina Viner with long-term disqualification.

The trainer accused of incorrect statements she addressed to some colleagues and even in cruel treatment of gymnasts.

Here is how this situation was commented by Bruno Grandi:

"....No problems. I do think, that she has made a proper thing.
Because, anyway, as she has explained, interpretation of those words that she said was wrong.
I have not seen yet the documents which have been considered by our disciplinary commission.
But I do not see any reasons to create extra noise from this."

So it *is* about mistreatment.

Oh, well. I guess it was good to hope they'd get a less fragile pretext.

So Disciplinary committee decision is ready - notification (notice?); so Viner can participate as official trainer in OG and other FIG competitions.

Well,

NOBODY here have expected something else at the moment.

But there no doubts that after these Olympics there will be some measures taken
for preventing appearance of such situations in future.

Meanwhile...Mrs. Viner also has made a decision not to apply for the position
of a member of the FIG technical committee for the next Olympic cycle.

Smile))
