Wow, I can't wait to see Son's new routines! It looks they are going to be very interesting, and that she will be among the podium contenders in many international events! I hope she can make it!
And I'm curious about the new Russian coach!

I found it pretty entertaining for the first few seconds, but it got a little awkward to watch after a while... |

I just found this interesting article about Son! Apparently, she's trying to get two new elements named after her: catch of clubs with foot after backwards turn + catch of ball on back/shoulders after backwards turn.
The article also mentions her music for new routines.

I don't know what to say about that video- .
I think I've been in that gym, though.
I feel Yeon-jae is dancing dangerously close to "cheesy" in her routines. Over acted, maybe, is the word? We get it, you have a lovely face, but more is not always better! |

I also found the full coverage of this show including the practice and thier show for each routine.
I found it really funny and creepy as well. hope they could make the english translation for this.
Their make up is so funny and their leotards that they made for this show is quite nice. _________________ Sessina ♥ Kanaeva ♥ Dmitrieva ♥ Mamun ♥ Mazur |

Honestly though, when you break up her routines and look at the difficulty and her execution... does she really deserve to be where she is?
I think not. As always I am shaking my fist at a sport I love flooded with politics I hate. How much of Son's standing is because she is as good as her scores demonstrate or Korean Sport's deep pockets and friendship with Irina Viner?
A silver in ball at the Universiade? Really? Above Rizatdinova and Staniouta? It's a joke. She is a joke. She is cute, that is all, let her keep doing commercials and give back rhythmic gymnastics.

I too think that her scores are that high because she trains in Novogorsk (you pay to train in Novogorsk and also for your future scores at competitions ). I personally find her extremely boring to watch (together with Rivkin). |

I don't think she is overscored. I don't think her routines have the same starting value as Staniouta's, Rizatdinova's or Kudryavtseva's ones, but I believe her Difficulty is high enough to get 8.500-8.900 (her usual D scores). Her pivots are worth a lot of points, for example she often performs 4 rotations in penché (1 point), and an insane amount of fouetté pivots (especially in her ribbon routine!). Also her risks are usually very difficult... The final risk in her hoop routine (double chainé + grovel + catch during walkover on the elbows) is worth 1 point! http://youtu.be/mxrNPfbe5-M?t=1m35s
More, she is usually clean, and in Universiade ball final her routine was VERY clean. Ball is her strongest apparatus and she totally deserved the silver medal, in my opinion. Staniouta in Kazan was very underscored (in all the routines), but if I remember correctly she and Rizatdinova didn't have a perfect performance.
And I think it's very mean to say "she is a joke" and "Let her keep doing commercial and give back rhythmic gymnastics". I think her routines suited the new CoP very well, with a fair (and not excessive) number of dance sequences, original Mastery elements, difficult risks and body elements. Also, her routines are well choreographed (and so I think she gets few artistical deductions), and this helps her to get high Execution notes.
Well, this was my opinion, but "Give back rhythmic gymnastics" is a senseless sentence. If you don't like her, this doesn't mean her routines are not RG routines, or that she has to attend commercials and no competitions. |

her starting value is probably at 10 . At this level gymnasts can not afford to start lower . |

I don't think all the best gymnasts start from 10 in all the routines with this new CoP... In the Analysis thread, some users posted the possible sheets of some gymnasts, and the estimated starting value of Maksimenko's, Yusifova's and Rivkin's ball routines was about 8.600-8.900!
Of course, we should see the real sheets in order to make sure of the starting values. But I think starting from the maximum score now is more difficult than in the past! |

is there any reference/comments from RG judges, coaches, gymanast, found online that says its more difficult to achieve max D points for the new COP? |
