It was a knee to the nose, which would cause a break in most people, not just those that are calcium deficient... _________________ http://www.youtube.com/Tahnee2612 |

Actually, calcium deviancy is a big problem for Asian women, and for rhythmic gymnasts probably double. I am sure these are isolated, bad luck type incidents, but hopefully just in case the trainer of japans rg team is looking into their bone health.
Those hunched over old women you see in japan and Korea are that way not from working in rice fields, but from severe osteoporosis due to low calcium diets. I'm sure this is not that, but I do hope they use this as an opportunity to evaluate gymnasts training and health...too many injuries are a red flag that something might be going on. |

Oh...eheh...
What gryro says is true, it is a problem in Asia. I'm the only member of my family who's lactose tolerant and everyone else had to get their calcium by other means. My coach when I trained looked into my calcium as well. I think that in this day and age though things are improved for younger people who go to the doctor regularly so I can only trust that the coaches are doing this for the girls while they're in St. Petersburg. |
