Now Dasha Dmitrieva is in her hometown Irkutsk.. (?) (friend who has a twitter told me) But what was the rest about? I hope everything will be all right with both Dashas. This uncertainty and worry is driving me crazy xD :/

Correction : "I know that Viner can obtain for me what I want"

Oh come on, clearly she's been working hard. Maybe she doesn't deserve the medals or the scores she's getting, but she HAS improved, and that comes from hard work.

The Daria's are in another league, I hope they continue competing without this defeatist attitude.

Sure, I know it is a self-motivation sentence. But for now the second one is the closest to the current situation

Come on, we know she will be a wonderful gymnast, but what I often think is.. If I were Sasha, how can I be so happy to win a gold medal with such a point? Or to be ahead of Kanaeva, Kondakova, Dmtrieva!!!
Honestly, If I were her i wolud be in a spot!!!
On the contrary, she seems so confident!

I'm talking about Sasha because we are talking about her. But I can say the same thing about Russian group, Kabaeva, Kapranova, Sessina (sometimes), Kanaeva (sometimes)

My guess is that she's either quite naive, or she's be trained to look happy no matter what happens. And even if she disagrees with the medals, I would hardly expect her to look miserable. A gold medal is a gold medal, whether it was justly earned or not.

I honestly do not get Merkulova.

Her facial expressions are certainly Kabaeva-esque, and she's obviously Viner's new favourite, but Alina had something special when she burst on to the scene in 1998. She also had technical skills that set her apart from the others (at least when her routines were clean). Things changed drastically after 2000 (even if the scores didn't), but we'll leave that argument for another thread.

Based on what I've seen from Corbeil, Merkulova's routine seem juvenile (not just in the music selection and letoards, but also the choreography). She does some skills very well, but has atrocious form with basic things like how she holds her arms during turns, and also her feet (which are often flexed when they shouldn't be). Her attitude position is also incorrect as she bends forward far too much.

That 27.9 in the ball final with *huge* drops was offensive, as was the 29+ she scored with ribbon. And don't even get me started on how she was able to re-do her routine when the wrong music was played, even though others in the past have just had to make do and not get a second chance.

The judges should be ashamed of how they're pandering so publicly to Viner's wishes.

I somewhat agree with most of what you said, but completely disagree with the comment about her feet. She has lovely pointed feet most of the time, and flexed feet when it's choreographed to have flexed feet. There are big chunks of her ribbon routine where her feet are supposed to be flexed.

I think her feet and legs are beautiful... And about her arms, at least she's managed to get her shoulders down in competition now XP

Sorry but her feets are very bad. Compare Sasha's and Liubov's ones? Smile
The same about knees. Maybe she will improve that but I doubt...

I still disagree. But I suppose part of is it everyone is seeing what they want to see. If they're looking for mistakes, they will undoubtedly find them (not referring to Merkulova; to all gymnasts).

She is clubfooted. She can't pull the foot.

This is club footed: http://www.google.ca/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=club+footed&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=kdyzT_TGI46e8gTPst2FCQ

So I don't think we need to go to that extreme. Anyway, I showed my coach a video of Sasha that my music happened to be attached to, and the first thing she said was that she had beautiful point. I'm inclined to go with that opinion.

Of course she can point her feet during leap or another element, but when she walks or does small dance steps she doesn't "care" about them, she doesn't point them, I mean she doesn't think of them out of elements. It's lack of basic skills, look at Shinkarenko - she is not very strong for now, but her feet are always pointed - on elements, walking or steps...
