Dear friends,

We all know where it goes wrong in our beloved sport and mostly we also know how it works. A lot among us are fighting against this injustice for many years, but are never heard.

Also during the intercontinental course in Bucharest and later in Moscow there were a lot of rumors about "fixing" the exam results of a number of participants.

Finally FIG took the appropriate decision to let a disciplinary commission start an investigation.

http://www.fig-gymnastics.com/vsite/vcontent/content/transnews/0,10869,5187-187975-19728-44545-317578-17968-5233-layout210-205197-news-item,00.html

It would not surprise me at all if cheating was discovered. I can only hope that the guilty ones are not confused with the sport itself. Or this could be the beginning of the end of our sport.

Erik

More sad news,

FIG has decided that no exams can be taken after a judges course until the report of the desciplinary commission is finished.
The situation is very, very serious !

Everybody in RG is going to pay a high price for the stupidity and selfishness of a few people.

If I am well informed, all new brevets must still be acknowledged by FIG.
I hope that finally the guilty ones get severely punished.

But I hope that only those will be punished! By not giving the opportunity to pass any exam many judges are punished because they actually have to re-organize a lot of traveling and possibly to pay a lot more than they had initially thought. I agree that it's great that an investigation will be done Bounce

Yes, it is part of FIG. You will find more about it in the statutes of FIG on their websites under Rules - http://www.fig-gymnastics.com/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,5187-188050-205272-nav-list,00.html and then look in main rules.

kind regards

Erik

Friends,

I noticed that very few people realise the seriousness of what is going on right now.
Therefore I hope that the disciplinary commission will publish soon the results and the consequences of its investigation.

Keep fingers crossed,

Erik

i really do hope that something does get sorted soon as it is delaying the results of everybody else's results. Also future courses are unable to sit their exam meaning an exam will have to be done after the course at a later date. It is very important that it is sorted and action is taken however action needs to be done ASAP.

I really hope this to end into something good.

Last time, after Patras 2007, we had Irina Deriugina punished and Irina Viner with just a "warning".

Friends,

in the mean time, the judges that participated in the Bucharest course received a "provisionary" brevet waiting for a definitive decision.

The investigation of the disciplinary commission can still last several weeks.

It look like things are taken very serious

It looks like so. Dóra Vass has just been a guest at a morning sports talk show, and she talked about the process a bit. That's what she said (slight edits made to make it clearer):

Talk show host: – We can safely say that there is a quite huge judging scandal is brewing in RG recently, due to the FIG disciplinary process.
Dóra Vass: – In the last four-year Olympic cycle I think we could all feel that something will happen and erupt due to the irregularities noticed at Worlds, Europeans, World Cups, Grand Prics etc. (…) There were several interested parties in not giving scores reflecting realistic placing. (...) That's not about me, however, politics might have a hand in missing out on the Olympics – Hungary is too small to compete politically against some countries like Germany or Cyprus.

(talking about Trikomiti's background): – It probably matters if a dad is having quite an influence behind the scenes.

Q: – What is out publicly yet? Who are the ones who are banned or will be banned?
A: – So far I cannot publicly name anyone, and no bans were issued yet, but there is an ongoing disciplinary process and investigation against the five most prominent committee members of the last four years. I shall not name them at the moment. I hope that makes some change in rhythmic gymnastics, balancing the scene and fairer scores will ensue. I really hope that if this cleaning up goes ahead, they will not stop at the halfway. FIG has done a lot of clearing up in artistic gymnastics, I have the same hopes for RG.
