I want to know that if you think of a song or music, what country that remind you of that music? or maybe their most popular traditional music or song.
(except for their national anthem)

example : (IMO) if you disagree please tell me your opinion or tell me your another choice.
Espana Cani that represent Spain.
Kalinka or Katyusha represent Russian Federation
The Blue Danube Waltz for Austria
Gravel walk or Lost Song for Scotland
Arirang for Korea(both North and South)
Sakura for Japan
and my country(Thailand) is Kang Kao kin kluay(meaning = bat eat banana Laughing ) or Lao Duang Duen(I'm not sure about the meaning, maybe it's Lao moon?)

So, what about your country or any other country? please let me know. Love

Yeah, that was a joke. I would have to say the best song that represents the US of A is America, the Beautiful. It's pretty much our second national anthem.

Hi!

Are you kidding me? Where does that association between accordion and France come from? I'm French, and I promise you, we've been traditionally playing many other instruments such as recorders, shawns, hurdy gurdys, viols, etc...and more recently ( about 200 years), whole orchestras, just as everywhere else.

When I think about France, I'm reminded of old children songs, or famous composers. Camille Saint-Saens and Francis Poulenc, for example.

And for Canada, I'd say that old folk song called A la claire fontaine, or pieces by Gilles Vigneault.

If you say USA, I'm hearing Glen Miller or Benny Goodman!

Hockey night, indeed, AleksandraFan! Bounce

That must be a Quebec thing because I have never heard of that song.... sometimes Quebec is like a different country though.

I totally agree with you; I'm feeling the same about English speaking Canada. It's a good thing, thought, because we can travel in our own country and never get bored.

Yes, A la claire fontaine is an old French song brought in Quebec by the first settlers. It's mostly sung, sometimes with e few people, because I think they didn't bring a lot of instruments from Europe to begin with.

So, what other folk songs would be popular in English Canada?

mmm..for Italy is difficult cause every region has its own popular music. Maybe the most famous are songs from Naples like "O sole mio" or "Funiculi' funicula' ".
And there is also classical opera music (for example "Va pensiero", "Nessun dorma")
