Central European time is +5 hrs to Rio now, so early evening start.

I updated the race to Rio infographic with Pesaro, containing the average AA results and best AA results of each Test Event gymnast this year.

https://infogr.am/rhythmic_gymnastics_the_race_to_rio

Russia has withdrawn from group, Kudryavtseva did the same, so far both startlists are understaffed and may remain so.

FIG article came out today saying there are nine spots for individuals instead of seven. Is it a misprint(even counting Brazil as one then there are still eight spots)?

Rhythmic Gymnastics - April 21-22
In the qualification race, 23 gymnasts will compete for nine individual places, and seven Groups will challenge for four tickets. Knowing that Brazil will be present at the Games in both individual and Group competition, teams wanting to return to Rio in August know it is best to place ahead of the Brazilians.
In individual competition, gymnasts from Armenia, Austria, Germany, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Kazkhstan, Mexico, Romania, Slovenia and Uzbekistan will contend for the remaining places. The Groups battle will be between Uzbekistan, Germany, Azerbaijan, Greece, Finland and South Korea.

Nine? It's possible!

15 gymnasts already qualified from Stuttgart
2 got continental quotas in Stuttgart (Grace Legote - Africa, Danielle Prince - Oceania)

That leaves 9 spots.

No continental quota needed. It looks like there is no eligible gymnast for a tripartite wildcard and that place is given away now, too!

+++

Shamelessly copy+pasting Justin's work:

Directly Qualified (15) - #1-#15: The top 15 in the Individual All Around Final at the 2015 World Championships. Participation rights are for NOC's, not gymnasts. Between parentheses is the name of the gymnasts that qualified a berth for her NOC.

1. Russian Federation 1 (Yana Kudryavtseva)
2. Russian Federation 2 (Margarita Mamun)
3. Belarus 1 (Melitina Staniouta)
4. Georgia (Salome Pazhava)
5. Ukraine (Ganna Rizatdinova)
6. Azerbaijan (Marina Durunda)
7. Israel (Neta Rivkin)
8. United States of America (Laura Zeng)
9. Spain (Carolina Rodriguez)
10. Bulgaria (Neviana Vladinova)
11. Republic of Korea (Son Yeon-jae)
12. France (Kseniya Moustafaeva)
13. Belarus 2 (Katsiaryna Halkina)
14. Greece (Varvara Filiou)
15. Japan (Minagawa Kaho)

Continental Wildcards (2) - #16-#17
A minimum of four continents must be present at the Olympics.

Three continental wildcards are available for universal representation. Wildcards are obtained at the 2015 World Championships All Around Qualification, by the best gymnast of each continent, if not directly qualified. These berths are nominative.

16. Africa: South-Africa (Grace Legote, 64th in the All Around Qualification)
17. Oceania: Australia (Danielle Prince, 78th in the All Around Qualification)

Host Country Wildcard (1) - #18
18. Brazil: Natalia Gaudio (FIG counts this as distributed at the test event, as nominally it is indeed distributed when the Brazilian gymnast takes the floor there!)

That leaves 6 places from the test event + 1 unused continental quota + 1 unused tripartite wildcard!

1. Nicol Ruprecht AUT
2. Veronica Bertolini ITA

4. Elizaveta Nazarenkova UZB
5. Ekaterina Volkova FIN
6. Ana Luiza Filiorianu ROU
7. Jana Berezko Marggrander GER
8. Dora Vass HUN
9. Natalia Gaudio Brazil

Yes, well, Gaudio is fixed.

So.

host right (1) - Natalia Gaudio (BRA)

And my top 8:

Nicol Ruprecht (AUT)

Veronica Bertolini (ITA)
Anastasiya Serdyukova (UZB) - I believe she will knock Nazarenkova out. I don't even know Nazarenkova's preparation level, she had only one outing this year
Ekaterina Volkova (FIN)

(I'm more or less certain of these girls - or at least, Ruprecht, Bertolini, Volkova and an Uzbek)
+++

Ana Luiza Filiorianu (ROU)

Sabina Ashirbayeva (KAZ) - I am really cautious with these two girls, as they have never faced such a huge pressure situation and both are droppers
Jana Berezko (GER) - she's frighteningly out of form so far, but she's a good competitor
Dóra Vass (HUN) - I almost did not dare to write this, as last time I jinxed it Mr. Green Third time lucky? With her form in the last 3 years she would not stand a chance. This year she's been on fire though.

My wildcard for a spot is Bezzoubenko, she can clearly get there if she does 4/4, but she's the most unpredictable gymnast ever.

There will be no FIG livestream available. 52-minute highlights will be posted on YouTube, both for individuals and groups.

Live results can be found on the FIG micro website, and presumable also via the CIS Web Application.

I would say everyone could make some kind of mistakes because big pressure, plus humid condition in Rio would have some effects. Also, they are outside top15 for a reason. So the persons making less mistakes will get a spot. Harder routines will be more likely cause errors. Very Happy Surprised

I am very happy to hear that there are more spots that are allocated through the results! Universality is an important aspect for the IOC for the evaluation of the sports in the olympic program and it's ok to a certain extent imo but I prefer to see the best sportsoman on the OG over seeing more countries participating!

I guess that the fight for the two extra spots will be just as hard as for the others. It's true that Italy has great chances of making it to the OG then!

Staniouta is in Rio, so I'm pretty sure she's competing at the Test Event. Bounce

Why don't FIG give the spot from Russian to Salome and Ganna?
