Nah, I was just thinking if the spare ball was knocked out . I was referring that she would need divine intervention in such occasion if she would be able to qualify with such a huge mistake .
P.S. Upon looking back on my post, it seems I forgot to edit that line... I was actually writing two lines, erased one (partly), and now the remaining line doesn't make any sense . _________________ Gimme the ball, gimme the ball... |

got an answer from the FIG,
Quote: | To clarify: The Tripartite place counts toward continental representation. This means there will be no continental card given in Rhythmic Gymnastics for Africa. |
thats why there were more berths up for grabs at the Test Event, the continental quotas include the tripartite invitation!
this sucks and does not sucks. _________________ ♥Staniouta, Halkina, Kudryavtseva, Pazhava ♥

So did Grace decide to decline her invitation? Doesn't the continental wild card come before the Tripartite wild card, since the Tripartite is only optional, while continental representation isn't? I'm a bit puzzled here. _________________ "The true measure of a hero is when a man lays down his life with the knowledge that those he saves...will never know" (The Outer Limits) |

No, Tripartite is before continental, as it's given by the Tripartite Commission (International Olympic Committee/Association of National Olympic Committees/Association of Summer Olympic International Federations), which is a level higher than international sports federations.
So Tripartite Commission can override FIG, basically, if there is an eligible representative.
THE 26 INDIVIDUAL OLYMPIANS ARE
Non-nominative places (15 - the country's Olympic Committee can decide which gymnast to pick):
Russia 1
Russia 2
Belarus 1
Belarus 2
Georgia 1
Ukraine 1
Azerbaijan 1
Israel 1
USA 1
Spain 1
Bulgaria 1
South Korea 1
France 1
Greece 1
Japan 1
Nominative places from the Test Event (8 )
Sabina Ashirbayeva (KAZ)
Nicol Ruprecht (AUT)
Veronica Bertolini (ITA)
Ekaterina Volkova (FIN)
Anastasiya Serdyukova (UZB)
Ana Luiza Filiorianu (ROU)
Shang Rong (CHN)
Jana Berezko-Marggrander (GER)
Host place (1)
Natalia Gaudio (BRA)
Continental places (2)
Danielle Prince (AUS)
Elyane Boal (CPV - Tripartite Wildcard for Africa instead of Africa's continental quota) _________________ "Time is a great teacher; unfortunately it kills all its pupils." |

Continental representation - 3 gymnasts
The minimum Continental representation (including the Host Country
place and the Tripartite Commission Invitation place) should be at least
one (1) quota place for Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
If the minimum Continental representation is not guaranteed after the
2015 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games Test Event
(including the Host Country place and the Tripartite Commission
Invitation place), the best ranked individual gymnasts from the
continent(s) not appropriately represented as per the individual ranking results of the Qualification Competition (CI / All-Around results) of the
2015 World Championships will directly qualify.
The deathline to submit their requests for the tripartite invitation was january 16th 2016. they waited for Cape Verde's acceptation to make it official, and had they not accepted the invitation then the berth would have gone to Grace.
I definitely misinterpreted the rules all along. Why did they say 3 gymnasts then? _________________ ♥Staniouta, Halkina, Kudryavtseva, Pazhava ♥

On a side note, Dóra Vass has announced her retirement after failing to get an Olympic berth. She'll say goodbye to RG at the Koop Cup, Toronto. _________________ "Time is a great teacher; unfortunately it kills all its pupils." |

Tchachinafan, I thought so too. I think the majority thought the same actually. I always wondered why they didn't publish the nominative wildcard contenders right after the Worlds in the first place.
But somehow it bothers me they have overrules the regular continental wildcard, as in 2004 and 2008 we had both RSA+CPV in the same Games, whereas in 2012, the Tripartite wildcard was skipped entirely. _________________ Gimme the ball, gimme the ball... |

I still don't get it, why invitation is not sent to Grace first? |

I think because they knew Cape Verde asked for the tripartite comission invitation (Grace is not eligible for that one) and as Gergely said the tripartite comission overrides the FIG.
Justin I agree!, it bothers me too, I mean here the americas had already a guaranteed spot, plus the host country one, if they had 3 spots for gymnast in order to guarantee continental representation why not to give one to Grace + the tripartite one for Africa, which is by all means an under representated continent in RG. And the final one to Prince so Oceania would be covered.
Afterall it only says at least 1 quota place for continent, nowhere does it says that if they have one it stops there.
what happened in 2012? I don't remember why the tripartite comission spot was not given?
I guess this is a win-win situation depending on how we look at it? An extra berth was available and Berezko earned it, but on the other hand Africa only will have 1 representative and they could have been 2. _________________ ♥Staniouta, Halkina, Kudryavtseva, Pazhava ♥

I read from social media that SouthAfrica Olympic Committee (not Gymnastics Federation) rejected it so Grace cannot go... |

I agree!
I will never understand the logic of not letting athletes go, or giving them a hard time to. like why!?
At least AG gets to go, which is good afterall, but don't understand why niether.
Impossible not to feel for Grace though, its wasn't the rules, she did enough but she is being left completely powerless because the people in charge won't let you go? _________________ ♥Staniouta, Halkina, Kudryavtseva, Pazhava ♥
